How players join a Bedrock server

Bedrock supports cross-play, but each platform adds external servers differently:

DeviceHow to connect
Windows 10/11Play → Servers → Add Server, then enter your server address and port.
iOS and AndroidPlay → Servers → Add Server, the same as on Windows.
Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo SwitchThere is no built-in button for custom servers. Players usually join through a DNS-based server list such as BedrockConnect, or through a friend on another platform.

Bedrock Dedicated Server uses UDP port 19132 by default (19133 for IPv6); the panel shows the exact address and port for your server.

Bedrock server software

Pick the software that matches how you want to customise your world:

Vanilla (Bedrock Dedicated Server)

Mojang’s official server. Best compatibility with the latest client, with support for behavior packs and resource packs.

PocketMine-MP

A Bedrock server written in PHP with its own plugin ecosystem for minigames and custom features.

Nukkit and NukkitMOT

Java-based Bedrock servers with plugin support; NukkitMOT adds features closer to Vanilla.

Dragonfly and WaterdogPE

Dragonfly is a Bedrock server library written in Go; WaterdogPE is a proxy that joins several Bedrock servers into one network.

How much RAM does a Bedrock server need?

Bedrock Dedicated Server is lighter than a Java server. Typical starting points:

ServerSuggested RAMMatching plans
A world for friends1–2 GB1 GB (Hestia), 2 GB (Hermes)
Small community worlds2–4 GB2 GB (Hermes), 4 GB (Hefesto)
Communities with add-ons4–6 GB4 GB (Hefesto), 6 GB (Apolo)
Large worlds or plugin servers6 GB or more6 GB (Apolo), 8 GB (Atenea), 16 GB (Zeus) or larger, up to 64 GB

Large explored worlds, many entities and heavy add-ons raise these numbers. You can move to a bigger plan later.

Bedrock or Java?

Choose Bedrock when most of your players are on phones, tablets or consoles and you want a Vanilla-style world with add-ons.

Choose Java when you need plugins, modpacks or the largest community tools. You can still let Bedrock players in by running Paper with Geyser and Floodgate — the Geyser setup guide covers the install, ports and connection fixes — or compare every option on the Minecraft hosting page, including modded hosting.

Frequently asked questions

Can console players join my Bedrock server?

Once connected, players on every platform share the same world. Windows, iOS and Android can add your server from the Servers tab. Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch have no button for custom servers, so console players usually join through a DNS-based server list such as BedrockConnect.

Are Bedrock plans different from Java plans?

No. The same Minecraft plans run Java or Bedrock; you pick Bedrock Dedicated Server, PocketMine or Nukkit in the panel.

Which port does a Bedrock server use?

Bedrock Dedicated Server listens on UDP 19132 by default (19133 for IPv6). The panel shows the exact address and port assigned to your server.

Do you support Bedrock add-ons?

Yes. Upload behavior packs and resource packs with the file manager, then enable them for your world.

Why can’t players connect after a Minecraft update?

Bedrock clients and servers must run the same version. After a client update, update the server too.

Can Bedrock and Java players play together?

Yes, by running a Java server (Paper or Purpur) with the Geyser and Floodgate plugins. The Geyser setup guide walks through the setup step by step.

Ready to start your Minecraft server?

Pick the RAM you need, choose your server software in the panel and invite your players. Plans start at $1.10/month and go up to 64 GB, always at $1.10 per GB.
